Tennyson, In Memoriam (sections II, III, and IV), read by Benjamin Hagen

Text of section II here.
Text of section III here.
Text of section IV here.

Three remarkable sections that give three very different textures to the speaker’s grief: a desire to share the Yew’s ancient indifference to the dead; a bold but uncertain response to personified Sorrow; a saddened/ing but oddly encouraging nighttime dialogue with the heart. A common thread across the three poems is a hollow immensity (Nature, the dark) against which the speaker contrasts the little lives of men.
